TBD.com has chosen Beat the Traffic®’s highly innovative traffic API to display current traffic conditions to Washington DC drivers.
(Washington, DC and Santa Clara, CA) -TBD.com has unveiled its new and highly innovative traffic reporting web site that will significantly help Washington, DC drivers. TBD has chosen Beat the Traffic®, a patented traffic solution and cutting-edge technology to display current traffic conditions throughout the region.
According to Virginia’s Performance Leadership and Accountability System, the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area is tied with San Francisco, CA and Atlanta, GA as having the nation’s second highest rate of congestion. TBD.com and TBD mobile visitors will benefit from real-time travel times and traffic incident data pertaining to their routes, which will help them plan better and react to traffic problems. TBD’s most up-to-the-minute traffic reports are complemented with instant trip times on key routes such as I-95N from Quantico to Beltway. Beat the Traffic made its innovative API available to TBD.com to develop an interface to the real-time data that is easy to use and understand.
A particularly novel addition is the Optimized Directions section. Users may search for the best route from Washington DC, to Baltimore, MD, or type any origin/destination address. The system computes a “Clear Traffic Route” which provides the generally shortest route and a “Beat the Traffic Alternate Route” traveling generally higher speeds on less congested highways. These route suggestions integrate real-time traffic data.
TBD.com is reporting transportation problems for a wide territory: including Washington, D.C., Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, Frederick County, Arlington County, Alexandria, Fairfax County, Prince William County and Loudoun County.
“Traffic is a big challenge in Washington, DC because of all the congestion and the wide territory that we cover. Our users can really benefit from TBD.com using Beat the Traffic® as a partner,” says TBD Senior Director of Product Management, Bageshri Ghate. “We chose Beat the Traffic® because of the flexibility they brought with their API, and their expertise in the traffic arena. They have been very responsive in adapting their solutions to meet our needs.”
“We are extremely excited to partner with TBD/Allbritton Communications on TBD.com in Washington DC,” says Andre Gueziec, President & CEO of Triangle Software LLC, the operators of the Beat the Traffic® system. “TBD.com provides rich content through a powerful innovative interface. It was a pleasure working with TBD’s team providing this valuable traffic experience through our API.”
