Pearson Knowledge Technologies is seeking consultants to fill the roles described below.
All consultants will be paid as independent contractors, within 30 days of invoice submission. Potential consultants should be aware that Pearson does not take any deductions from consultant payments.
International consultants will be paid via wire transfer. U.S. residents will be paid by check. U.S. residents (who must be legally able to work in the U.S.) will receive a 1099, and should consult with a tax professional to assist in paying the appropriate taxes.

1. Primary Canadian French Consultant
Native Canadian French speaker, fluent in English, with background in language/linguistics.
Duties: Be in the office ~15 hours per week for approx. 6 months. It’s essential that this consultant be able to commit to the entire 6 months. Will complete item writing, review, translation, edits/reconciliation, studio coaching, audio file review and selection, transcriber/rater recruitment/training, transcription correction, part of speech tagging, and other duties as assigned.
Pay: $30/hr

2. Item Writers/Reviewers European French
2 Native European French speakers, fluent in English, with a college degree (field unimportant).
Will write and review test items.
Approximately 20 hours total each person over the course of 4 weeks.

3. Item Writers/Reviewers Canadian French
2 Native Canadian French speakers, fluent in English, with a college degree (field unimportant).

4. Expert External Reviewers
3 expert native French-speaking Linguists from Canada, France, and 1 other French-speaking nation. Experts must have a Ph.D. in linguistics or related field (or equivalent experience), and preferably have a university affiliation. Will review test items for clarity, fairness, and regionneutrality.
Approx 8 hours of work per person, to be completed in 2-week time frame.
Pay: Flat rate of $300

5. Pro European French Voice Talent
Male Professional Voice Talent, Native European French Speaker, to record examiner prompts. Must be an experienced voice talent with demo reel.
Flat rate to be negotiated for ~3 hours work.
Work location: Menlo Park, CA (1 day), or home studio

6. Pro Canadian French Voice Talent
Male Professional Voice Talent, Native Canadian French Speaker, to record examiner prompts. Must be an experienced voice talent with demo reel.

11. Transcribers
20 native French speakers (approximately equal numbers from Canada and France) with strong listening and spelling skills, attentive to small details, and ability to commit to a few hours each day. Will transcribe candidates’ spoken responses to test questions, which range from unintelligible to eloquent.
About 40 hours total work each, over about 4 weeks.
Pay: $20/hr

12. Fluency & Pronunciation Raters
2 expert raters, one a native Canadian French speaker, the other a native European French speaker. Must have at least a Master’s degree in French or closely related field. French teaching experience preferred. Will rate candidate’s spoken responses to test questions for fluency and pronunciation.
Approximately 25 hours total work each, over 3 weeks.
Pay: $25/hr

13. Story Retelling Raters
3 expert raters, at least one a native Canadian French speaker, and at least one a native European French speaker. Must have at least a Master’s degree in French or closely related field. French teaching experience preferred. Will rate candidate’s spoken retellings of short stories for clarity and accuracy.
Approximately 25 hours total work each, over 3 weeks.

14. Validation Raters
3 expert raters, at least one a native Canadian French speaker, and at least one a native European French speaker. Must have at least a Masters degree in French or related field. French teaching experience preferred.
