Alliance française de San Francisco Founded in 1889, the Alliance Française de San Francisco is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and enhance the knowledge and appreciation of French and Francophone culture, to increase the knowledge of the French language, and to encourage interaction among the French, Francophone and American people through education and the arts. To celebrate our 120th year, we are embarking on starting “un travail de mémoire” of the French community of the Far West.
We pride ourselves on being diverse, international and promoting a global perspective in the greater Bay Area. The AFSF not only focuses on the language and culture of France but on all French-speaking countries.

As the AFSF continues to expand its mission for the international community of the 21st Century, we invite those who equally value the importance of education and awareness in an international context to become members of our vibrant community.

The Alliance Française is also organizing a bookdrive entitled “Humanitarian Aid for the Mind in Haiti.” From December 1-12, the AF will be collecting new and used French-language books suitable for children aged 3-18. Please make a difference in a Haitian child’s life by making a tax-deductible donation to this humanitarian mission!
