François G. Laugier is a corporate transactions and international business partner in the Redwood City office of RMKB. He specializes in corporate and cross-border technology transactions while still advising clients in commercial litigation and dispute resolution.
Francois represents technology start-ups, entrepreneurs, investors, emerging growth and public companies in domestic and international transactions including corporate formation and governance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate structure inversions ("flips"), IP licensing and protection, equity financing, joint ventures, and all general matters of the corporate life cycle.
A California lawyer established in Silicon Valley for the past 18 years, Francois is also a member of the French Bar ("Avocat") where he has practiced law. He received his French law degree from the University of Montpellier in 1980, graduated from the Paris Institute on International and Comparative Law in 1986 and in 1988 obtained his LL.M of Comparative Law from the University of San Diego, California. He joined the Firm in 1990, was elected a partner in 1995, and is now a director of the Firm. Recently, Francois was noted by the San Francisco Bay Area Lawyer Magazine as one of the “Top lawyers in the Bay Area” for mergers and acquisitions.
François is admitted to practice in California state and federal courts, in Washington, DC, as well as in French and European courts.
Born in France, François is fluent in French. He is an advisor to the French Ministry of Economy and Finances ("Conseiller du Commerce Exterieur"), a co-founder and organizer of DBF (a French Silicon Valley networking society established in 1994) and a director and past President of the French-American Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco.
